Phrase is the smallest language unit that can be used independently. At all time phrase teaching has been an important part in primary school language teaching. As the old-saying goes: the words are not separated from phrases, phrases are not separated from sentences, and sentences are not separated from articles. Phrases are the building blocks of language, whether the phrases are rich or not is a direct reflection of the language development. It also marked people’s understanding of the objective world’s breadth and depth. Therefore, we should pay attention to the phrase teaching in primary school language education. However, in the current primary school language education, the status quo of phrase-teaching is worrying people, there still exist many issues of the phrase-teaching in one way or another, enough to arouse our special attention. This paper starts from the status quo of phrase teaching of the primary school language education, the reason causing and the current status of phrase-teaching are analysed and thought through. And we explore how can the effectiveness of primary school language and phrase teaching be better improved.
